downtown disney
Downtown Disney is an awesome area of Disney World that features all sorts of great dining, shopping, and entertainment for the whole family. It is a pretty large area divided into different sections which include the West Side and Marketplace. There was a section named Pleasure Island located in the center of Downtown Disney which featured two comedy clubs and four night clubs. This area was closed in 2008 and a restaurant opened in one of the locations there. Sometime in the future, A section named Hyperion Wharf may develop into an early 20th century themed entertainment area.
With that said, there are still plenty of great shops, restaurants, and attractions to partake in while visiting Downtown Disney. The Marketplace section of Downtown Disney is the larger half of it which features all sorts of cool dining establishments and shops which cater to the curious minds and stomachs of Disney World guests. Four of the most popular shops on the Marketplace include Goofy's Candy Company, Lego Imagination Center, Disney's Pin Traders and of course the World of Disney. These shops, along with all the others, sell a wide variety of cool souvenirs, and memorabilia from Disney World. On the West Side you have a few different restaurants, some shops, and a boat load of entertainment options. Featured on the West Side is a 24 theater AMC movie theater complex, Cirque du Soleil's theater featuring La Nouba, and House of Blues which also features a live performance venue.
