animal kingdom
Disney's Animal Kingdom opened its doors on April 22, 1998. It is the only Disney park to base its theme entirely on animals and animal conservation. The park is backed up by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums for all the work they do in providing animal education and conservation. They are constantly striving to exceed the expectations in animal conservation research and serve as a great place to bring the family to learn a little something about some of the most amazing animals from all over the world.
Animal Kingdom is divided into different continents including Africa and Asia as well as fantasy based areas like Dinoland U.S.A., Rafiki's Planet Watch, Camp Minnie-Mickey, Discovery Island, and the main entrance area Oasis. There are a number of cool restaurants and shops all based on the land they are located in featuring food from those areas, or themed on the areas. The 500 beautiful acres of the park serve as the habitat for hundreds of amazing animals that are well taken care of. At some point, Beastly Kingdom featuring dragons and other mythical creatures was supposed to be a section of the park, but the plans were put on hold. There will soon be an Avatar based area of the park that will feature all of the amazing creatures from the movie. The center piece for the park is The Tree of Life which is a 14 story tall, 50 foot wide artificial tree that has beautiful animals and creatures carved into it.
